Join The Rockfall Foundation for a 3.6 mile roundtrip hike to Beseck Mountain on the Mattabesett Trail in Middlefield, CT. Enjoy rocky terrain along an open ridge with expansive views over Black Pond and facing westward. Moderately difficult terrain at a fast pace, with 800 feet of elevation gain. Prior hiking experience or equivalent physical fitness recommended.
Free. Non-members welcome. No dogs, please. Bring sturdy hiking boots/shoes, snacks and water. Steady precipitation or snow cover cancels.

Directions: From Route 66 in Middlefield, CT, turn south onto Route 147 (across from Guida’s Restaurant). Trailhead pull-off parking is almost immediately on the right. Please park cars snugly so everyone fits. (To get to Route 66 from Route 9, take exit 15 off Route 99, then follow Route 66 West for 5 miles, then turn left on Route 147 South.)
CARPOOL: Please consider joining our 9 a.m. carpool from 27 Washington St. Middletown. It is a brick house and has it’s own FREE parking. It’s the deKoven House, home of The Rockfall Foundation. Please arrive by 8:55am for 9am departure to trailhead.
Please contact hike leader for another carpool option from DURHAM.
