Wadsworth Mansion Vernal Pool Sustainability Program

This grant will kickstart the first phase of restoring the last of three vernal pools in the Long Hill Estate woodlands. Through the expertise of community members, wetlands experts, and volunteers, a new plan will be put in place to remove invasive species and replace them with native plantings, which will foster a safe habitat for amphibian species to thrive in the pools.  This project will also include an educational component, creating a community awareness campaign that will use first-hand accounts to illustrate why preserving this critical ecosystem is so important.
