Middlesex Health/Family Advocacy/Opportunity Knocks for Middletown’s Young Children

Connecting with Nature & Eating Healthy with Preschool Gardens

Through professional development and on-site support, Middletown preschool teachers will increase their utilization of edible school gardens to teach children about nature, growing vegetables and healthy eating. With a focus on organic gardening practices teachers and families will learn to be conscious stewards of the earth as they build their own capacity to feed themselves. Under this grant, three Middletown childcare centers will restore or build teaching garden beds. Grant amount: $1,531
