Nayantaquit Bog Bridge in the Nehantic State Forest

This project will install 80 feet of bog bridging on the Nayantaquit Trail in the Nehantic State Forest, allowing hikers to safely cross wet terrain. Hikers have avoided these areas by going off-trail, which increases the trail’s footprint and disrupts local flora & fauna. The bog bridges, to be built by local boy scouts and CFPA volunteers & staff, have a simple and sustainable design that will keep hikers concentrated on the trail and out of the surrounding forest ecosystem. Grant amount $2,000
