August 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for a Lichen Walk at Indian Hill Cemetery with Natalie Howe.
Dr. Natalie M Howe is an ecologist and educator who leads lichen hikes for people of all ages. She will introduce us to the different types of lichens growing at Indian Hill Cemetery, and will tell us about the ecology of lichens here and around the world. The walk will be very slow-moving, and we will be stopping a lot to observe these miniature wonders.
About Natalie: As an educator at George Mason University, Natalie is interested in engaging students with the world outside, especially with plants and fungi. She also works as an Agriculturist at the USDA, where she helps ensure that the fresh food plants we trade with other countries do not carry pests or diseases that could harm farms. She grew up in Durham, CT, and now lives in Washington DC.
